Focus Your Faith on the Positive: 5 Ways to Remain Positive in a Pandemic by Dr. Michelle Clay

Michelle Clay focus mindset positive

Greetings Everyone! Especially to my sister Super Wonder Women! How are you? How are you REALLY? In these times of panic, anxiety, and uncertainty, it can be difficult to remain optimistic. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a glass is half full kind of girl. That is because I have done A LOT OF WORK on my mindset. I choose to find the silver lining and positivity in situations. Now let me be clear, when the situation first occurs, I may not feel positive, but I believe where it is written, “What the devil meant for evil, God turns it to good.” Most of us can agree that positive thinking is important. It helps reduce stress, anxiety, and gives us a sense of calm. In uncertain times, we have to be certain about one thing, and that is ALL things work together for our good. The good may not be immediate, but in the long run, everything works out (there’s my mindset again).

Sometimes it is difficult to see the glass as half full and remain positive.

If you are struggling to stay positive and hopeful right now, try following these five tips:

1. This Too Shall Pass

When you are in the midst of a crisis, it is nearly impossible to keep things in perspective. That said, you need to recognize that circumstances are temporary. Things might seem dire at the moment but try your best to remember that "this too shall pass." Being confident in the fluidity of things, try not to make a long term decision based on temporary circumstances. Focus your faith on the fact that you have been THROUGH tough times before. Keyword THROUGH.

2. Make a Plan

One of the single best things you can do to maintain positivity during tough times is to make a plan on how to deal with it. When you focus on the solution rather than the problem, you will naturally feel more positive. Focusing on the solution activates your power. Remember, you don’t have to react, but instead respond.

3. Focus on Things You Can Control

When your world seems like it is spinning out of control, you may feel helpless. One way to address this and stay more positive is to focus on the things you can control. You can control things such as your thoughts, words, emotions, and rest. Instead of stressing about things out of your control, focus on making sure you do your best job on the things you can control.

4. Think About the Things You are Grateful For

Even during great personal turmoil, you still have things you are grateful for. When things get tough, it is vital to remember that there is good in the world, and more importantly, in your life. I like to focus on positive quotes, personal development, inspirational stories and examples of DIVINE love being expressed in the world such as through volunteerism. When you are struggling, take some time to list the things in your life you are grateful for. This helps replenish your cup.

5. Reach Out for Support

Reach out to loved ones and offer your support. Reach out if you need assistance too. When things are dire, it is always reaffirming when people pull together and help each other. Social media can help us socially connect as we navigate a world of physical distancing.

You may live alone and feel isolated. Or you could be in a house full of people and feel lonely because they don’t really get you (been there done that). I get it and I got you.
